About lifestyle plants

The Collection
This collection has been conceived to fill the contemporary niche requiring Big, Bold and Instant displays. Plant forms included offer exotic interest, architectural impact or stunning structure in flower, leaf or stem.

Set to embrace the impact of global warming, the Lifestyle range includes a wealth of beautiful and unusual plants that have been tried and succeeded in the British climate, most with minimal or no winter protection. Many of the plants are also drought tolerant which is now an important consideration for many gardeners. All plants have a detailed label with required growing conditions clearly laid out and a simple-to-understand quick reference guide.

Interesting vegetation can provide an exotic jungle effect even in a small garden situation. The range of Lifestyle Plants covers the whole spectrum from giant bananas to compact gingers, from moisture loving gunneras to drought resistant succulents - the Lifestyle concept can provide plants for any garden.

Our plant range utilises the whole plant growing concept -Indoors - conservatory - patio - garden. Many of the range make excellent houseplants - unusual and decorative. They can be chosen to suit a sunny or shaded situation as stated on the label. A conservatory can provide conditions for an extended growing season and year round enjoyment of exotic plants. Patio pots can be placed on the smallest of terraces or grouped for effect on large patios, always moveable for flexible planting schemes or available to be planted out in the garden as desired. Enjoy your plants where you want them!

The company
Beaver started 40 years ago on a small family-run nursery in Surrey as one of a small number of suppliers of aquatic plants to the UK Garden Centre Industry, the company to this day remains family-run: the business was relocated within Surrey to a 60-acre site some 30 years ago when it was time to expand. The company has grown to become the largest supplier of coldwater plants in the United Kingdom.

Nearly 5 years ago it become apparent that an opening in plant retailing was there to be realised. The consumer now expected more from their garden, as the garden had become an extension of their house - an outdoor room; patios, decks and barbecues had become the norm. The householder became more aware of their garden and subsequently treated planting schemes the same way as wallpaper on the living room wall. A new generation of gardeners had been born, and with them came the need for a new generation of plants.

Last year saw a large increase in sales - it seems the nurseries and garden centres have really caught on to the ‘lifestyle concept'
